Please be prepared to take action by making three phone calls after reading this (One to each Senator and one to your Congressman). On Thursday, President Obama and congressional Democrats met in a "summit" with leaders from the Republican Congressional caucus to discuss health care reform.
They met for over 7 hours supposedly to determine if there was any possibility of a compromise bill that both sides could agree upon. While there were some areas of agreement, in the end it was clear that the differences are mostly philisophical in nature and will make it nearly impossible to bridge the divide.
President Obama, seemingly understanding this, at the end of the meeting signaled his desire to go forward regardless of whether or not they can win any Republican votes. He also seemed to thumb his nose at the American people when talking about the effects of passing this bill when he said that "that's what elections are for."
It is now clear that over the next couple of days Congressional Democrats will be waiting to see how the American people will respond. They will be waiting to see if your outrage resurfaces or if they have finally outlasted your anger and resolve. You have no more time to act. There may be no more tomorrows in this fight. Today will be critical. We need you to call today and pass the word along to everyone you know. Here are the phone numbers for the Wisconsin Congressional Delegation:
Please tell your Senators and Congressman you do not want this bill to pass!
Senator Russ Feingold: 202-224-5323
Senator Herb Kohl: 202-224-5653
Rep. Steve Kagen: 202-225-5665
Rep. Tom Petri: 202-225-2476
Rep. Dave Obey: 202-225-3365
Rep. Sensenbrenner: 202-225-5101
Rep. Gwen Moore: 202-225-4572
Rep. Ron Kind: 202-225-5506
Rep. Paul Ryan: 202-225-3031
Rep. Tammy Baldwin: 202-225-2906
We have been winning the fight against this bill, please do not give up now!

Feingold, kohl, and kagen simply do not care how many of us say no to this bill. If 100% of the people of wisconsin said no to this bill,Feingold,Kohl, and Kagen would still vote yes. To them big goverment socialism is more important than jobs, the economey, or tax payers wallets, It is that simple folks.......... Kagen and Feingold must be voted out of office a.s.a.p. And then Kohl....
We have spoken, we will speak again in November.
I listened to the "summit" on health care yesterday and the condescension and lecturing were breathtaking. I did call all three with our opposition. Elections are not for overturning the Constitution and the freedoms we have as American citizens. Feingold, Kohl, and Kagen took oaths to "protect and defend" it.
I called Feingold ,Kohl and Kagen's office today. I hope they get flooded with phone calls and emails about this crap bill! Kohls office didn't even ask for my name, he is as arrogant as Obama is.I wrote the following on my fb page...... Unbelievable! Look at how arrogant Obama is. He doesn't care what you think! He is over the top at being the worst President ever. Do something PEOPLE! Instead of playing petville and Farmville on fb, start getting involved! This will effect you and your kids, grandkids......... Call your Congress and Senators and tell them HELL NO!
If they vote without Repubs.....Take an emergency vacation to Washington D.C to display Americas outrage! Obama must go!
I have heard that this is a scam to make sure that the Unions get their pensions covered, (payback for electing Obama.) Most of Dem,s have been brought and paid for by big interest groups including Unions. We need to let them know, We are on to them. We know, of the corruption and when it all comes out(which it will.) Not only will they be voted out they will be shamed!...
Mark - I tend to agree, but hope that doesn't prevent you from calling. We need to be on record as often as possible in opposition to this bill so that they have no opportunity to say that they only heard from people that wanted the bill. I know it sometime seems pointless, but is all part of the process.
I went to a Republican Party dinner a few weeks ago and I noticed that all of the speakers referred to themselves as Conservatives and not Republicans. HMMMMM Is the message getting through? Yep! I think so! Keep up the great work.Call your Reps everyday and bug them to no end!
I talked to an aide in Kagen's office and old her I want the system to be reformed, but not overhauled by the Feds and I do not want Obama stealing 1/6th of our economy. Every Fed program and institution always cost double of what the CBO predicts, and then the system goes bust. Then I told her to be fair, the Bush administration and the Republican control of Congress was a train wreck. And the Obama Administration and Dem controlled Congress is more of the same TIMES 10! I am sure the Indy's and cross over Repubs who voted for Obama will say the same thing about Obama's administration when they look back at the theft of our Constitution and Country.
When I called Feingold's office, the voicemail was full. :(
I would not place calls to the Democrats who's mind is made up to try and pass this at any cost. Rather I would contact Paul Ryan and other Republicans.
I was disappointed with their performance at Presidents supposed bipartisan health care summit. Before they even started to debate what was in the bill they should have called for the need to debate where they get the authority to regulate the insurance or health care industry. By even offering up alternative plans they were agreeing that congress is not limited to those powers which are enumerated in the Constitution. Rather they only limited to what can by passed by one vote over 50%.
We need to tell these phony limited government types that we will not continue to support them just because they are the lesser of two evils.
Mr. Steineke is correct. It may seem pointless, but we need to let them know how we feel. Maybe there is still a true american soul barried deep inside of these guys somewhere.
Unfortunately I did not have time for a phone call during the day but did send e-mails to Petri, Feingold, and Kohl. I did get a response back from Petri which was much more detailed than I expected but right now indicates that he will vote against the bill. I am sure Feingold and Kohl will vote in lockstep because we "little people" don't know what's good for us. How did Nancy P put it? "A bill can be bipartisan without the votes being bipartisan." Wow and these are the people insisting that Sarah Palin is stupid.
